HolinessâŚ
As I was reading yesterday morning, I came across a quote from a book called âMeditations of a Hermitâ by Charles de Foucauld. The quote was this: âThe hour in our life in which we are best employed is the hour in which we best love Jesus. A soul does good to others not in the measure of its knowledge or intelligence but in that of its holiness.â In that moment I was reminded of Acts 13 verse 2. It says this, âWhile they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, âSet apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.â So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.â
FastingâŚ
Yesterday marked the beginning of a three day fast for our community. Our highlighted words for the fast are âHolinessâ and âSet Apartâ. We want to be holy as God is holy. Particularly, we want to wage war on anything that we let into our lives that leads us astray from Holiness and whole-hearted commitment to God. The idea is to get rid of any type of compartmentalizing we have done with our lives; ie: âthis is the âholinessâ part of my life, the âvacationâ part of my life, the âworkâ part of my life, the âfamilyâ part of my life, and so on and so forth. We want our whole lives to be marked by holiness not just the parts we âdo for Godâ.
ExpectantâŚ
Iâm expectant for what God is going to reveal and what Heâs going to speak about. Submitting to the Lord and letting him search your heart in this way is not easy but it is necessary for moving forward in the callings He has given to each one of us. Have you ever done a fast before? As grueling as they can be, there is such a richness to the dependency on God and the nearness of His presence. If youâve never done one, I would encourage you to do a one day fastâŚor even a lunch fast. While we will be fasting food, itâs not the only thing you can fast. There are a number of things you could come up with that would be hard to go without. The whole point is to take something out of your life. Every time you think about that thing youâve taken out divert your attention to God and pray.
JulyâŚ
We had such an enjoyable time in California this past July. While coming back to California might seem like a vacation to others, we went with the purpose that we always have when we go places. We are missionaries ready to engage the world around us with the Gospel. It was such a sweet time of fellowship with so many of you and open doors of ministry across the body of Christ. We were in churches from Fullerton to Costa Mesa, to San Clemente, to Idyllwild, as well as events with KWAVE and FEEDtheMUSIC. It was so awesome to see four people give their lives to Jesus and dozens more recommit their lives to Jesus last month. Iâve always committed to the Lord that no matter how big or small an opportunity is to minister to Him and others I will go where He leads. What little steps of obedience could you take today that would lead you to the place of fully surrendering to the Lordship of Christ?
School of Worship
Lastly, God has been so faithful to ease me into leading this Upper Level Course in our University system. This coming quarter God is bringing 37 students (as of now) to study in our School of Worship. My staff jumped from 4 last year to 15 this year. I canât wait to pour into these students and get a front row seat to see God equip these students and send them back out for His glory. Pray with usâŚwe long to see worship arise to God in every nation. Currently, I will be sending an outreach team to Myanmar from our school and possibly to Norway. Pray that the purposes of God for each team will be made known and accomplished.
Prayer
How can we be praying for you?? Please let us know! We would love to pray for you! Currently Liz and I switch off days in the prayer room early in the morning for an hour. We pray for lots of things but it would be amazing if we had specifics to pray for with our own missionary team! We love you and are so grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for the many ways that you sow into our ministry here in Kona and around the world.May the Lamb receive the full reward of His suffering!!Peace be with you,Chris, Lizzi, Malakai, Laila, Rhema, and Baby MosesP.S.- We have a current goal to raise an additional $2,000 of monthly support to help get closer to our ultimate goal of being fully funded missionaries. Would you pray for us and also consider if there's anyone you know that may be interested to hear more about our ministry with YWAM. Many blessings and love to you all our dear friends.
