Summer 2018 Update
Life Is Short
To Know God...and Make Him Known
McCalls On Mission
Aloha
Wow, what a summer this has been. As I sit here in an airport in Korea, I am completely amazed at all that God has allowed our family to be a part of. A phrase that has been a constant in my mind lately is, “seizing every opportunity to live worthy of our rich inheritance in Jesus Christ.”
Jesus is King…
Starting in June, our family was in Scandinavia for about two months. We were pouring out our lives, giving it our all to see hearts come alive for the first time. To see hearts reawakened to the worthiness of God. To see lives transformed and churches revived, drawn together in unity under the headship of Jesus. To see nations transformed for the Glory of God. On a side note, I had the opportunity to be interviewed on a radio station in Helsinki. My friend Ves and I got to talk about music, creativity, our faith in Jesus. We also played a song we had written and recorded only 3 weeks previous. That was an amazing experience and opportunity that we’re hoping to build momentum upon. But I wanted to tell a quick story from Norway. I have a friend in Bergen who is, simply put, a wild man for Jesus. He would be like John the Baptist today. He could care less about what he wears, what he eats, where he sleeps. He lives and breaths preparing the way for the Lord to move in his city and country. All he cares about is people knowing Jesus. He spends every moment he can walking the streets, praying for people, preaching the Gospel, and sharing the adoptive love of Jesus. He organized a big gathering in Bergen this summer. It was all about crowning Jesus as King of Bergen and Norway. They did this in the historical place where Kings of Norway were crowned. The days leading up to the gathering were so rich with fellowship, worship, and intercessory prayer for all that God would want to do that day. Day and night we were together, as the body of Christ, worshiping and praying ‘God let your will be done!’ The day of the event was multi-denominational and multi-generational. It was an incredible time of unity. If that was all that happened it would’ve been worth it…but then the ‘Coronation Ceremony’ had arrived. It was around 6p when my friend enacted the ‘Coronation’ of Jesus as King at the Fortress. At that moment over 1,000 Norwegians got on their knees and bowed prostrate before the Lord. The presence of God was so real, so palpable, so thick. All were able to see at one of the most touristy places in all of Bergen, here were a people, set apart, saying, “Jesus, you are King. Take your rightful place of authority in our city and nation!” I was so gripped with faith and humbled at the small part God was asking me to play in the future of Norway. Five minutes of silence, five minutes of pure reverence…and then the celebration began! I was awestruck that I would even be on a stage to lead these people in worship of our King in response to such a powerful moment with God. His presence was so tangible. The celebration went late into the night and the Spirit of God came and touched so many people. There has been incredible fruit of Unity and courage to preach the Gospel of Jesus with boldness. Pray that every attack of the enemy to tear down and destroy the ground that has been taking in the Kingdom will be thwarted with power.
Asia…
Currently, Liz and I are traveling home from a leadership gathering in Cambodia. It was a time of impartation from the First generation leaders of YWAM. To tell all the stories of hardship, successes, and failures as they pioneered this movement. To impart faith to the identified global, next generation, leaders of YWAM. It was a time of sons and daughters, turning to the fathers and mothers and vice versa. It was such a rich time of growing relationships. We spent so much time worshiping God…I spent a lot of time leading worship. I’m so encouraged by this family that we are a part of. I’m so filled with faith as I hear the stories of people doing risky things, in impossible situations, in parts of the world that are violently opposed to Jesus. I’m even more stirred for these friendships to grow. I'm stirred for all the ways that God wants us to collaborate for the sake of the Gospel. Stirred to go out into all the world and making disciples of Jesus in every nation. There is so much more coming for our family in Asia now as well. Be praying as we discern what to say yes to in simple obedience to Jesus.
Final Thoughts From The Summer…
Comfortable Christianity will never reach the world. Safe Christianity never reaches the hardest places on the planet. Start with one small thing to overcome. Then another, until you realize you have a HOPE that overcomes all fears. May the Lamb receive the full reward of His suffering!!
Peace be with you,
Chris, Lizzi, Malakai, Laila, Rhema, and In the Womb Baby Moses
PS: We would love to hear what you have been up to this summer!
PPS: Please feel free to send this to anyone you feel needs to read this!
