To Know God...and Make Him Known

"After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands." Revelation 7:9
Aloha I pray you are doing well and Happy Birthday to the United States of America! The verse above, from Revelation, is always such an encouragement to me. It gives such a beautiful picture of the future! I love that God gave the apostle John a peek at what we could call the ‘grand finale’ of human history. What a glorious scene this is of people from every tribe and nation on earth praising God in their unique expressions. The Father’s purpose in sending Jesus was to draw all people back to a love relationship with himself. In his promise to Abraham, it’s clear that God intended to be in fellowship with every nation. The Holy Spirit, in Acts, filled the disciples with expressions of worship in every language represented in Jerusalem that day, to draw people from those nations to God. Worship has been an integral part of evangelism ever since! I love how the Bible is always so clear about the end goal. Evangelism is not merely about saving poor sinners from the misery of their sin. It is about restoring right relationship to God. That what’s so beautiful about this picture from Revelation. The goal of evangelism is to bring the nations to worship before the throne of God! What a beautiful sight that will be! A Gift to God From NepalEarlier this year I was able to send two missions teams to Nepal. One of the teams was focused on trekking in the Himalayas to bring the Gospel to remote villages and establish houses of Prayer and Worship in those areas. The other team was partnering with an Oral Bible Translation team that had begun translation efforts in the Raji language. This language had no translation of scripture and is currently getting an Oral Translation. This a people group that learns orally; meaning they learn by hearing much more effectively than by reading. Our goal was to take what was being translated and work with local musicians. To give training/equipping, feed their creativity, and encourage them to write the first ‘scripture worship songs’ in their language. It is so easy for us to take for granted singing, hearing, and reading scripture in our own mother tongue. Most of us in the USA have had scripture in our own language our whole life. We don’t know what it’s like to hear God speak someone else’s language and not our own. This is changing for the Raji speaking people’s. What a testimony that our School of Worship team, from Kona, could facilitate one of the first ever recordings of a scripture worship song in the Raji language. There was much rejoicing at the completion of that song (as witnessed by the picture above of the epic dance party celebration)! The final production of the song is nearly complete and will be added to the SIM cards that are being sent back to Nepal with the scriptures that have been translated in Raji to be distributed as quickly as possible. I’m excited that Bible engagement will be bolstered through this song. Pray OMTSpeaking of “Mother Tongue” languages. Loren Cunningham (founder of Youth With A Mission) launched a website recently as a way to see which languages still need Bible Translations and to give a way to sign up to pray for the translations that still need to be done. On the day it was announced to YWAM Kona staff, I asked my own mother what her Mother Tongue is. My mom is an immigrant from the Philippines. The favor of God over her life and my dad’s is so very evident. I knew she could speak Tagalog and Visayan, but I wondered which one was her mother tongue. I didn’t even know, but it turns out it is Surigaonon (I’m not even sure if that’s the right spelling 🤣). When I looked it up on PrayOMT.com I found out that with the written bible there is nothing completed and there is no oral translation as well. My own mother does not have the Bible in her language; her mother tongue! Would you join me in praying for this language? Additionally, it turns out I’m also a legally born citizen of the Philippines. Would you pray that my efforts to finalize dual citizenship will be swift and for God’s plan on how to see my own mothers language have an oral translation completed? I have many ideas, but I want God’s idea for it. Whew! That’s A lot!The crazy thing is that’s barely the tip of the iceberg of stories and updates I could give. Thank you for hanging in their and getting to the end of this update!LastlyThank you for being a part of our McCalls on Mission team. The salvations, the trainings, the evangelism, the Bible distribution, the Oral Bible Translations, scripture songs being written in newly translated languages for the first time, and more (over the years) have happened because of your generous support of our family. The training and projects I spearhead are all funded by you! We do not receive a paycheck from YWAM but we raise our salary to fund our living and work expenses. Your sacrificial giving does not go unnoticed and our hearts are filled with gratitude for the team that God assembled when he launched us from Grace Fellowship Church. Together we have seen the Kingdom of God advance in tangible ways and we know that there is more on Gods' heart; additional people to be a part of the prayer and financial team to see even greater things that are still to be done in the nations of the earth. All languages, on the face of the earth, will have portions of scripture in our lifetime. I look forward to the completion of that task, the completion of the full word of God in all languages, and worship arising to Jesus in every language. And so we pray again and again, God, renew our spirits and draw our hearts to you, that our work may not be, to us, a burden, but a delight; and give us such love to you that will sweeten all our obedience. Help us to serve you with cheerfulness and gladness like a child, delighting ourselves in you and rejoicing in all that is to the honor of your name; through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.May the Lamb receive the full reward of His suffering.Grace and Peace,Chris, Lizzi, Malakai, Laila, Rhema, Moses, and Zion
